Our project is located in 5 towns of Cundinamarca: Sopo, Zipaquira, Guasca, Soacha, and La Calera. In Sopo we are working with the Town Hall, strengthening their project of urban orchards with our “Nutrientrepreneurship” program, supporting 30 families. We have the baseline and commitments and hope to reach 2 public schools. In Zipaquira we support a grassroot organization that works with children with disabilities, we have the baseline and commitments and will start with activities soon. In Guasca we work with a public school with the students of 9th to 11th grade, we have been strengthening their orchard and planted last month 41 fruit trees as our first edible forest from our goal to have created 7 more at the end of the year. In Soacha we work with a public school where we support 56 children and their parents, we have been developing encounters to raise awareness about Food security and Sustainability, this month we will start working in the orchards.
In La Calera we work with 30 mothers from a public school, we have developed 13 Food encounters, they learned to do artisan apple vinegar, economic salads, vegetarian Rices, fruit salads, chicken with sauté vegetables, among other recipes. With clear intentions we have strengthened their leadership and communications skills, as well as strengthen the social fabric. We offered 3 self-care space: Zumba class and listening circles for women empowerment. We had our first harvest 2 months ago in the school orchard and created a new garden and hope to sow at the end of this month.
