Emergencia finalizada pero latente

By Catalina Escobar | Miembro de Junta Direcriva

ENGLISH

The emergency project in response to the floods in Ayapel, supported by GlobalGiving, will be closed as the national government has reached a significant milestone. According to the director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), Olmedo López, they have successfully closed the breach at Cara e' Gato, which represents a crucial advancement in mitigating the risk of floods in the region.

This step forward is an encouraging signal for recovery and strengthening resilience to natural disasters in the affected community in the Mojana. Despite these achievements, it is important to highlight the persistent lingering emergency. The risk of new floods remains a constant concern.

This emergency project has been a crucial step in responding to the floods in Ayapel but underscores the need for a long-term approach to address the structural and natural vulnerabilities that persist in the region.

We deeply appreciate the support provided by GlobalGiving, partner organizations, and all those who contributed to making this critical aid project possible.
