Kidsave's Weekend Miracles gives older foster youth (ages 9-17) in Northern and Central Virginia the chance to get to know host families through weekends spent together. The goal is a lifelong, connected, caring relationship with at least one safe, stable adult for each youth (adoption, guardianship, or mentorship). Monthly events introduce kids to people interested in getting to know them. Kidsave's weekend hosts make a one-year commitment to have the child in their homes at least two weekends
There are nearly 5,000 children and teens in foster care in Virginia. More than 1,800 of them are between the ages of 13 and 18; 800 are currently available for adoption.
Kidsave helps older kids in foster care find adoptive families and mentors in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and you can join us! Our Weekend Miracles program provides a new way to connect adoptive parents and mentors with older children and teens in foster care in Virginia. Through our Meet the Kids Events, kids and families get to know each other at their own pace, in safe, fun, and interactive environments.
Weekend Miracles Virgina launched in December 2024, and we're excited to watch our newest program grow its impact. When a child has at least one stable adult in their life, they have a better chance for success and are overall better prepared for the challenges of adulthood.
