Thrive Bangladesh: School Meals Change Lives

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, schools across Bangladesh have closed, greatly impacting learning opportunities for millions of children. In addition to learning, schools often act as a source of nutrition and health for poorer families. Consequently, school closures can have devastating effects on social issues such as malnutrition which is already prevalent among school-aged children in Bangladesh.

Throughout the pandemic Thrive has remained committed to ensuring Piet Van students continue to receive food. In addition, knowing that many parents of the students have been without work since restrictions were put in place, we have now shifted our focus on providing meals to family members as well.

Dedicated volunteers safely deliver bags of dry good items containing daal, rice, potatoes, onions, sugar, and spices to Piet Van where one member from each household receives their bag of food items. The children and their families are beyond grateful for Thrive's support, especially now with so many families struggling to put food on the table.
