Our current population of pupils and students in both Kisumu and Nairobi counties are 600 which are fed everyday. In our last report we indicated that our ultimate aim is sustainability and we were appealing for twenty (20) people each giving $100 per month or our donors help us develop and irrigate a fallow land in Kisumu county which we could use to grow our own food. We want to report that one of you has sent us sent $2,000 which we intend to use to help pump water from our all-season water pan to ensure we have enough water for agricultural activities for all the seasons. We want to sincerely thank this family for sacrificing to ensure a child is fed to stay in school.
As soon as this money is credited we shall commence the work immediately. Meanwhile we have not kept the land idlle but have since this year started planting some cereals since the rain was better than usual, however by the time we were planting the rain became irregular and germination did not take place as expected (see the photographic evidence). However, should we succeed in installing pumping system from the water pan, water will be available all round and we are looking forward to bumper harvest every season and this will go along way in reducing the amount we are spending in feeding program.
We thank you our donors and friends of Sheepcare for playing a big role in keeping these needy children in school. We cannot thank you enough. As much as feeding is expensive and its effect is not seen immediately but when a child who should have dropped out of school complete schooling successfully, his or her chances of a bright future is assured. You never know what reward you will receive from God. As for us, we can only thank you. May God, the creator of heaven and earth bless you and your generation.
Thank you so much. Let us not stop doing good untill we can reach a certain sustainability level.
