We actually don't feed to keep a child in school but we feed because our feeding is necessary for these children survival. The community in which we live, many are single mothers not by choice but as a result of their spouses abandoning them when life becomes so tough. Some of these men become drug addicts and indulge in illegal liquor drinking in the mistaken belief that they would forget their problems.
As a result, children see the helplessness at home and prefer scavenging food in the dustbin for survival. To such, schooling is not a priority and you can imagine this kind of circle if no one come to their rescue. It is due to this that Sheepcare initiated the feeding program in 2011 and since then we have given hope to over 4,000 children and see many of them exit to high school, colleges and universities and are now living meaningful lives in the society
As our partner, we want to remind you that your contribution is the reason why so many children have completed their schooling. Since this is very important and necessary, we continue to appeal that if twenty (20) of us each give at least a one time giving of $100 we will manage to prepare the farm which subsequently will regenerate itself and help us save and sustain the feeding program. In fact if this is done, it will go along way to avoid the headache of needing US$2,000 every month to feed the increasing population of the beneficiaries which is now over 400 everyday.
We have enough water from our draught resistance water pan dug in 2015 which is enough to irrigate our 5 acre agricultural land in Kisumu county (see the attached photos) which we intend to use to plant the cereals and other food crops to sustain our feeding programs, both in Kisumu and Nairobi counties. By your continued commitment many pupils would finish their schooling successfully and be responsible citizens.
We want to thank you that your contribution have enabled us to continue feeding as we look forward to your hand in helping us find a permanent lasting solution to this very important venture.
Praying that you be blessed,
Luke Jakoywa - Project Leader.
