Feed and educate children in El Alto, Bolivia

Greetings Help Bolivia supporters,

 

This is our first GlobalGiving project report, and it couldn’t come at a better time. We are in Bolivia! A group of us have traveled to visit the children, some for the first time. Today at the Tahuantinsuyo Community Centre, we participated with the children and their families in their traditional Challa celebration. The Aymara Challa is a ceremony of reciprocity with the Pachamama that is based on the act of watering the earth or other material asset with liquid and symbolic elements. What a great time for all of us, especially the kids!

The school year has just begun, and so did our programs. Rosalia is back as our cook, and the lunch she served us all was well appreciated, nutritious, and delicious. The children are happy, especially with a full belly of good food.

 

Joszephina is now our head educator, and this year Pablo has come on board as our second educator. There are also 4 university students doing their practicum at the Centre this year, so there is a lot of support for the children with their studies. 

Before we departed the centre today,  the parents and staff gathered to express their gratitude for the help we are providing to the children. I wish all the donors could have been there to see how much their support helps. Thanks to donors like yourselves, the children are thriving and performing better at school, which is a key component to building a brighter future. Thank you for providing them with that opportunity. Together we are making a difference!
