Empower rural Ugandan farmers

Solar powered salon!
Solar powered salon!

Hello supporters and supporters-to-be…

The community in Mbata have continued to make steady progress and are now fully utilising the FEC for agricultural services such as milling, juicing and the cold store. In addition, the community has set up a salon, entertainment centre and a workshop for services such as welding- all powered by solar!

During our last team visit to Mbata, there were multiple requests from the community for additional agricultural training in order to boost productivity and in-turn wealth generation. We are eager to support and empower the community in Mbata to improve their agricultural practices, hence we will be running training workshops with our local partners, Kiima Foods. Your donations will help support this training for the community in Mbata, which will provide the knowledge and skills necessary for farmers to generate sustainable incomes, through improving agricultural productivity.

In addition, there have been requests from the community for the addition of a coffee processing services at the FEC. Donations will help purchase this service for the community, which will provide more avenues for generating more income from their coffee. Your donations will support this centre reaching its full potential through empowering the community to generate more income from their produce and also improve their resilience to climate change.

As ever, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share this project within your personal network or on social media. Thank you for taking the time to read this report, and please donate! Your support will help build the foundations for the sustainable income generation of rural smallholder farmers in Uganda.

All the best,

Iona Smith
