Improve 500 farmers' productivity in Mbata, Uganda

Dear Friends,

Thank you once again for your generous donations to help us build a farmers enterprise centre in Mbata village.

Huge progress has been made in the past few months. The site has been selected and cleared in the community. A legal co-operative made up of local farmers has been formed to lead the project with huge buy-in from the community. Local youths have been trained in the manufacture of interlocking stablised soil blocks (special bricks made using local materials and less cement, so are good for the environment and cheaper!), and they have manufactured 14080 blocks ready for construction. We recieved the permit for construction from the District Physical Planner, and building began on the 8th November.

Its so exciting to see progress being made, and we hope to have the building up and running by early January.

Your support in continuing to invest in this community and provide the infrastructure for them to grow is extremely important to us. Even though we've made good progress with the building, once it is installed there will still be so much to do with capacity building and training, and the installation of agricultural processing technologies inside. GlobalGiving are running a special matching campaign for new montly donors starting in December and we'd love it if you considered signing up! Any amount, however small, will make a difference to us and the community in Mbata.
