We are so excited about the progress of establishing GRACE family-based foster care in our service areas of Pattaya and Korat!
GRACE has collaborated with two other organizations in Thailand goal-oriented to establish family-based foster care throughout the country. An organization in Chiang Mai (Northern Thailand) began the process more than a year ago. Through video meetings, we have established a strategy based on their experience. Additionally, another organization in Phuket (Southern Thailand) is in the information gathering stage of establishment.
The coordinator of family-based foster care completed a certification course provided through an university in United Kingdom. We are excited to implement the training from experts in the field.
GRACE leadership will be attending a child care conference for a week in USA during May. Additionally, meetings are planned for future training opportunities for staff and guardians. Also, the Thailand groups will meet and collaborate in a conference setting with training and networking in August.
Together, with our organization in central Thailand, we hope to present the social needs to governmental leaders in a unified effort to establish child care alternatives to group shelters and orphanages.
