This little girl was born with scoliosis, which has bent her spine and messed with her ribs. She now has just 3 properly functioning ribs, with others poking dangerously at her lungs. She needs surgery right away to protect the lungs!
She has been examined by spinal, surgery, breathing and cardiology specialists. They agree that her heart is healthy enough to withstand the surgery. A spirometry test indicated she has reduced forced vital capacity in her lungs and so will need chest physiotherapy post surgery to address her inadequate effort in breathing. Regular visits to the chest physiotherapy clinice will assist in her necessary lung expansion.
She is not scared of the surgery. On the contrary, she is quite excited. She is a kind and involved child, always smilling and participating in group activities, and surrounded by MCC children when she visits the Center.
Thank you for helping us fix her spine!
