Laying the Foundation for Growth

By Amani Sanga | Workshop Manager

Introduction

Twende has been dedicated to fostering innovation and problem-solving by providing design training and technological learning opportunities to both youth and adults. As awareness of our mission grows, so does the demand for our programs. More individuals seek to develop and implement technologies that solve personal and community challenges while creating economic opportunities.

To meet this increasing demand, Twende is working on expanding its physical space. This expansion will enable us to accommodate more participants, foster more innovations, and continue offering high-quality training in design thinking and problem-solving.

The Early Stages of Expansion

Understanding the importance of careful planning, we have initiated key early-stage steps in this expansion project:

  1. Finding the Architect – We have secured a professional architect to design the extended building.
  2. Taking Measurements – All necessary measurements of the available space have been completed to ensure an efficient and well-planned structure.
  3. Architectural Design Underway – The architect is currently in the process of designing the new structure that will support our expansion goals.

These foundational steps are critical in ensuring the space is not only functional but also aligns with our mission of fostering creativity and problem-solving.

Why This Expansion Matters

With the rise in participants and innovations, our current space is becoming inadequate.

The expansion project is crucial for:

  • Providing sufficient space for workshops, trainings, and collaborative innovation.
  • Accommodating a growing number of innovators who require access to tools and mentorship.
  • Enhancing our capacity to deliver impactful programs to a larger audience.
  • Strengthening our ability to facilitate technology development that directly benefits local communities.

Next Steps

To move forward with the construction phase, the following steps will be taken:

  • Finalizing architectural designs and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Securing more funding and resources to begin construction.
  • Initiating the foundation and structural work as per the approved design.
  • Ensuring the new space is equipped with the necessary facilities for innovation and learning.

With your continued support, we can ensure that young innovators like Amina have the resources and opportunities they need to create lasting change in their communities. Every contribution brings us one step closer to making this expansion a reality.

Thank you for being part of this journey!
