E-VEN : Evening the educational gap in Venezuela

If it weren't for our amazing donors, we wouldn't have been able to accomplish what we did this year.

After almost a year without visiting Los Roques due to the pandemic, we were able to come back. This time was different because of Covid19 and airlines restrictions, we sent four instructors (two different partnerships) that stayed for the last two months of the term, which helped reopening the school for the children in the Archipelago.

Returning to Los Roques was an incredible opportunity we are always looking forward to repeating. Our students and their families gave us the warmest welcome to the island. Also, it was gratifying to practice and strengthen the content we were working through the virtual classes and see the progress of the kids in person.

Some of the units our "little turtles" are currently focusing on are: body parts, the food pyramid, and naming places. We also had enriching activities outside of the classroom. For instance, several beach cleaning activities in the keys near Gran Roque. As well as activities that engaged the kids and the other residents of the island to remind the population of Los Roques of the value of a close-knit, cooperative community.

It was a memorable experience to feel like part of the roqueños for a few weeks again. For that, we cannot be more grateful to you, our contributors, for making this possible. We are incredibly excited to go back soon and continue with our goal of educating the future of Los Roques.
