Bright Side Project's unique Brighter Futures Initiative empowers youth via paid apprenticeship and educational support for a brighter future. This has been in mind for us for the past few years to be able to provide our kids with guidance on the next step in the journey of life. This organically came to be after we had been in operation for almost a decade and we knew that our kids, now growing into young adults, needed support in other parts of their lives.
In 2020 we kicked off our essential life skill training and had mentorships, tutoring in mathematics, mock interviews, and provided youth with paid volunteer opportunities at various industries to enhance their network and skills. Not only did our youths take in knowledge but we also learned so much about them and further gained their trust! We had one of our MuHsiang Children's Home youth from 2013 come onboard as a summer apprentice and from budget management to fulfilling a lifelong dream of his to build a website for the Muhsiang which provided him with a home when he had nowhere else to turn, he now uses everything in the Brighter Futures initiative in university and also has a steady income building websites for others! You can check out his first website here: http://muhsianghome.org which is now the officlal website for the children's home. Please find the attached report for more details and updates.
