Experience has taught us that working with the knowledge of Mother Nature is integral to understanding and leading the personal development of children. Working to develop leaders enhances the future of a community so that local people are empowered through the care and use of their natural resources, forming sustainable development in areas of unique biological and ecological importance in the world.
Fomenting leadership skills in young children will encourage their independence as people and the development of their peers (in some way or another all children have valuable leadership traits). These children have the skills to act as agents for change for projects that aim to build and progress, becoming a driving factor of the working process.
Our environmental youth groups provide engaging activities that focus on an environmental venture and nurture leadership roles by embracing and responding to the vibrant personalities of the children. Examples of these activities are building nest boxes for birds, creating posters with messages of environmental awareness aimed at the wider community and producing performances with the children as protagonists. Of particular importance, we take the children on nighttime patrols involving them directly in the conservation of sea turtles on their local beaches, sparking a long term biological fascination through direct experiences in the field.
The Foundation collaborates with other communities through environmental events, giving the children the opportunity to exercise leadership skills, celebrating them as representatives of conservation in the community to which they belong.
Our aim is: To develop local leaders with the skills and experience to lead future organizations, community associations and sustainable enterprises.
