20 years: A new generation of Earth stewards

By Alejandra Monge | Executive Director

The Corcovado Foundation is celebrating 20 years of building awareness and educating boys and girls on respecting Costa Rica’s fragile environment.

Our programs have empowered children and their parents to become active participants, teaching them to care for its precious biodiversity and become a part of transforming communities and habitats across the Osa Peninsula.

Since 2003, over 3000 children from 25 communities have directly benefited from our programs. Foundation staff and volunteers teach classes, workshops, and activities that connect kids with the environment. We teach them to appreciate nature as a fragile ecosystem of precious life and essential resources — neither of which can be squandered.

Children who started with us in 2003 are today’s young adults. Our programs helped them dream beyond their situations to set goals and create new futures. Today, they are the new generation of adults making a difference in their communities. What do 20 years of the Foundation’s impact look like?

Programs that offer positive change can lead to empowerment. Options, choices, and new directions become possible. We focus on conservation, leadership, teamwork, and self-esteem.

We have achieved great things together thanks to the people and organizations that support us and believe in our work. So, please celebrate with us these 20 years of the Corcovado Foundation. These are just some of the education programs and environmental activities that, together with you, have helped us protect and preserve Costa Rica’s biodiversity — for our country and our planet.

If you have a minute,  please watch our celebratory video narrated by my daughter =).  We will be participating in the Little By Little Campaign with GlobalGiving.

Thank you again for your support.
