La Serenissima is hard at work this summer!

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for donating to our longterm fund in support of La Serenissima's activities. We are extremely grateful for your generosity and engagement.

Since March we have released a new album, An Englishman Abroad, dedicated to the life of Anglo-Italian composer Nicola Matteis The Younger & released to mark the occasion of the coronation of our new monarch HM King Charles III. We are thrilled that this album has attracted high praise in The Times, Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine, as well as coverage on BBC Radio 3 and Scala Radio:

"Listening to this Englishman and his ensemble is always refreshing" Gramophone

"Engages attention and makes us long to hear more" BBC Music Magazine

"Perfection, at once courtly and refined" The Times

We gave a fundraising concert at the Residence of our Patron, His Excellency The Ambassador of Italy in May, to raise major donations towards our 30th Anniversary plans. We have plans to commission an Italian harpsichord for the group, record two new albums, develop touring in the UK and expand our outreach. We also premiered our new programme Crossing Borders in the Cotswold village of Painswick to a packed St Mary's Church, with flautist Katy Bircher and recorder player Tabea Debus in May.

The group played The Four Seasons to a very full St Martin in the Fields in June. We loved meeting up with old friends and new fans at that event, which had a buzzing atmosphere - not least because of external celebrations from Trafalgar Square for Canada Day!

La Serenissima is at the end of a run of performances of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo for Longborough Festival Opera, near where our office is based. The band have added amazing colour to the action on stage with The Guardian commenting the music was "exquisitely played by period group La Serenissima".

Adrian has been featured in a recent Gramophone article on Vivaldi's Four Seasons - our album has been cited as potentially the most streamed version out there!

We are working on the Brescianello Unlocked booklet right now and eagerly look forward to this next album release in October. Our next concerts will be in Liverpool and Cartmel in September (as part of a North West tour of The Four Seasons); we play in London's Wigmore Hall in December.

It's true that we have our hands full with projects at the moment, which is not easy with such a small administrative team; we remain anxious about the viability of future projects and hope that we can continue to provide work for our team of talented musicians.

Your support is a lifeline to our music. Thank you.

With all good wishes,

Camilla & Adrian
