Fishery monitoring of finfish species in 3 ports. Our community fishing monitoring program continues to operate in the three ports of the corridor (Santa Rosalia, San Bruno, H. Mulege. For 2023, we have been able to monitor 184 days of work to date, which allowed us to collect fishing log data from 214 landings and morphometric data from a total of 1,934 organisms of the main scale species of interest (trevally, snapper and whitecaps; which allows our fishermen to know statistics of their work days. With the data collected from the monitoring we have worked with the PESCADATA app, and it has made it possible to record the data obtained from community monitoring, which allows us to know the operating costs of a fishing day. a. Training for women in seafood conservation During May and June, Fishery product conservation workshops; were held in H. Mulege; in collaboration with ITESME and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. The workshop was attended by 8 participants, 7 women heads of households from fishing families and one fisherman; The main topic of these workshops was the theory and practice of conservation methods such as Dry Salted Shrimp, processing of fish meat for making hamburgers using horse mackerel, likewise, demonstration techniques of vacuum packaging were carried out. With these workshops, the region's fishing sector is directly strengthened because they increase the capabilities of mothers who head fishermen's families, providing them with knowledge and practical skills that they can apply in their daily lives, for example: Awareness about the importance of food conservation: educate families to avoid waste and ensure a more sustainable diet. This can lead to greater environmental awareness and a more responsible attitude towards food consumption. People can maintain the nutritional quality of food for longer, which can contribute to a healthier, more balanced diet. Economic empowerment is also sought by avoiding food waste and being able to store it properly, people can save money in the long term by strengthening the family economy of fishermen. Meetings with authorities and fishing leaders, to manage permit procedures for fishermen. We participated in the working meeting of the Southern Gulf Zone Fisheries and Aquaculture Subcommittee. On June 28, the 6th Working Meeting of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Subcommittee was held; We had contact with state and federal authorities on the subject of fisheries, partners, cooperatives, free fishermen and leaders of the fishing sector We were able to present a research protocol to obtain permits for the investigation of the availability of lobster in the Santa Rosalia-H. Mulege; Corridor, which was prepared by Ecologists without borders and which allows interested fishermen to have a free requirement necessary to obtain the permit, as well as with the support of a biologist to accompany them for reporting tasks. The protocol was accepted by the fishing authorities and has been sent for review. Part of the Sustainable Fisheries Project is being supported by the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation, therefore we had an audit visit as a review process to verify and validate the implementation and progress of this project from June 19 to 23. The supervision meetings were held in the communities of H. Mulege;, San Bruno and Santa Rosalia In them, meetings were held with community monitors who are in charge of monitoring landings, also, meetings were held with the municipal fisheries director, with the Local ITESME university; and with the Fishing Cooperatives that are part of the Fisheries Improvement Project that is being developed in the community. We have achieved our registration as a basic FIP on the Fishery Progress.org platform. A FIP has as one of its main objectives to promote the sustainable use of these resources, improve fisheries and respond to the environmental challenges inherent to them, based on the criteria and standard indicators used by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The FIPs and their progress are published on the fisheryprogress.org site where seafood companies and other interested parties can review the status of a project and decide if they want to support a fishery improvement project or source supplies of products from it.
