By the end of summer 2020, most of students in rural China were finally back to school. After months of suspension amid Covid-19 pandemic, we were then very excited about gradually resuming our Videolink Program, which consists of volunteers teaching English online to 20 children located in a school classroom.
Since October 2020, our volunteer teachers have provided weekly English classes via the internet to more than 960 children at 12 primary schools in Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Yunnan and Hubei, and the numbers continue to grow. In total, they delivered around 288 videolink lessons, all using our newly-developed interactive PPTs.
In addition to our Videolink Program, our Home Classroom Program - which originally was developed to provide online lessons to children under self-isolation or home-quarantine - has received very positive feedback from parents, partners and beneficiaries. This program consists of volunteers teaching children in groups of six in their homes. Since Oct, over 120 volunteers have provided 804 lessons to around 700 students. We are planning to expand this teaching model in order to reach more disadvantaged and rural students in China. Our aim is to create more opportunities for them to learn, practice and improve their English.
