In the fall semester of 2019, our Videolink Program, in which we organize volunteers to teach English lessons to rural children in disadvantaged areas of China, continued to grow. While still working with our height partner schools in Shanghai, Anhui, Yunnan, Henan and Hunan, we also opened two new sites - one in Henan Panlong school, and one in Fujian Pucheng (Tanglaoya) -, taking our total number of teaching sites to ten.
Our new site in Panlong school Henan, was launched with the support and assistance from Zhixing Foundation. Different from other sites, the children in this school are middle school aged have started learning English about two years ago. We developed an OEC - Online English Corner - which mainly aims to improve students' oral English. Our survey indicates students have increased their interest in studying English by receiving lessons every week.
From Octorber till December 2019, we had more than 67 trained volunteers mainly based in Aisa and America who were teaching English classes via the internet to more than 550 children. In total, our volunteers delivered 367 videolink lessons, all using our newly-developed interative PPTs. Volunteers and children had a great time with English learning activities!
We are also pleased to report that we have achieved all our program objectives in 2019, opening new sites and providing English lessons via the internet to more than 1,400 disadvantaged children in China. Our aim for 2020 is to continue to grow our impact while increasing our numbers of beneficiaries.
