Project Report – The Media Lab
Learning Video Editing Skills
Over the years, the Media Lab fostered an innovative learning space for youth, where they were educated on using different multimedia tools to shed light on issues that speak to their hearts.
The Media lab comes to life yet again after the summer break with 73 high school students who attend regular weekly sessions on multimedia skills.
Following the introduction to photography, the youths were introduced to the pre-production process of filmmaking and the role of the various crew members.
In light of the increasing youth unemployment rate, some youths shared their aspiration to become film director, and others expressed that they now understood the valuable contribution of each crew member.
In the month of August, Motithang students resumed their media lab classes after their summer vacation. The youths had hands-on sessions in camera handling and filmmaking. They were introduced to a wide range of camera movements, storyboarding and the application of Adobe Premiere Pro as an editing tool.
Tshering, a student of 12 Arts B expressed that she enjoyed the video editing sessions and also joined the trainer on Saturday to practice her video editing skills at the Media lab. Working in groups on their creative projects enables a learning environment where youth come together to use their creative energy to realize their potential.
