With the help of your generous donations, we have been able to distribute more sani pads and menstruation training to rural girls and bring on board our first Gender Equality Officer!

You have helped more rural girls stay in school: With your generous donations, along with donations from our new partners AfriPads, we have distributed a further 50 sani pads kits, underwear, and menstrual booklets to rural girls in Maduma and Ifwagi Secondary School. We were able to provide training to these girls on how to use the new sani pads effectively, such as how to wash them, how to put them on, and how to maintain good hygiene practices.

The recipients were overjoyed and they expressed their gratitude by saying, "I will go to school with confidence, knowing that I am safe, especially during my menstruation period. These reusable are more convenient and cost-effective for us because we don't have to buy them every month; we simply need to clean them ".

These pads, along with the menstruation training conducted will enable these girls to manage their periods safely, enabling them to stay in school during their periods.

A huge thank you from Lyra in Africa, as well as the students in Tanzania!

You have helped Lyra in Africa recruit our first Gender Equality Officer! With some of your generous donations we have been able to recruit for this critical role, and now are delighted to have Dorice as part of the Lyra team. Dorice will be supporting the roll out of Lyra’s new Sexual and Reproductive Health program, a key element of which is menstrual health.

From our work on the ground in Tanzania we see how a simple intervention, like providing sani pads and awareness raising, can transform a girl's ability to manage their periods safely and stay in school. There are so many more girls, like the girls at Maduma and Ifwagi who can benefit from this intervention in rural Tanzania. Can you help them by making a further donation to our campaign? Every donation truly makes a big difference to the lives of rural girls in Tanzania. Thank you!
