Our current campaign to End Child Sex Slavery in the US continues to build momentum as an increased number of people become aware of the issue and acknowledge its severity. Since our last update many positive events have occurred across the country. Some of the highlights include: the release of the 2011 Trafficking in Persons report, Seattle Mayor McGinn’s stand against Backpage, and Ashton Kutcher’s Twitter feud with Village Voice over the validity of sex trafficking statistics. A feud that unexpectedly sparked the interest of many and proved that, regardless of the exact number, sex trafficking is a very real problem that deserves our attention.
Our team spent the majority of the summer filming on location in Colorado. Last month we hosted an event in Aspen, “The State of Human Trafficking in Colorado”. Sgt. Daniel Steele, Supervisor of the Vice Team, Denver Police Dept. spoke on the basic facts including, signs of a victim, and what people can do as individuals to support this cause. We also premiered the trailer for 3 Generations’ newest video, “Denver: Demand and Supply".
There is still much to be done. We are pleased to be taking action as part of the solution, and are looking forward to seeing more progress in the coming months. Please visit our website to watch and share survivor stories, and for additional tools, resources, and ways to get involved.
Thank you for your continued support. Together we can end this human rights abuse.
