We want to send our warmest thanks to you, our supporters, for your unwavering commitment to make the world a better place for teen girls.
The challenges faced by teen girls are multifaceted and yet to be overcome for many. This International day of the girl 2022, Project Soar wishes to highlight the plight of teen girls who are often set back in life by many injustices.
Due to overlapping oppression based on education, class, culture & age, teen girls in underserved communities are highly marginalized in Morocco: 37.3% of young girls face some form of violence before the age of 15. (Enquête Nationale sur la Violence à l’Encontre des Femmes et des Hommes, 2019). Marginalized Moroccan teen girls are often living on less than $1/day & have parents with limited or no education. Living in underserved edges of society in rural or semi-rural communities, these girls face the double discrimination of being young & female. A lack of safe transportation options exposes teen girls to routine sexual harassment to & from school. Additionally, the high rate of mobile phone & internet usage by teen girls leaves them vulnerable to sexual harassment online. Teen girls are often a forgotten subset of society – no longer a small child but not yet an adult, it is now time to raise awareness on issues faced by teen girls and allow their voices to be heard.

Together, we can create a change for teen girls. With every fund raised with this project, we can empower a teen girl to find her voice and start on the journey to becoming a leader, a journey which will see her tackle injustices head on and become a true changemaker in her community!
