Project Overview This project aims to empower women in deprived communities in Ghana, starting from old Fadama, Agbogbloshie a low-income slum known for its challenges such as poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and social inequalities. The initiative will focus on enhancing women's skills, promoting economic independence, and fostering community engagement to create resilient neighborhoods.
Deprived communities like old Fadama, faces significant socio-economic challenges that disproportionately affect women, leading to a cycle of poverty and marginalization. Key issues include Economic Inequality: Many women lack access to stable employment opportunities and financial resources, limiting their economic independence and ability to support their families. Limited Education and Skills, Women often have insufficient access to education and vocational training.
The Women's Empowerment and Resilience Initiative (WERI) aims to address the challenges faced by women in Old Fadama by providing vocational training and financial literacy programs that enhance their skills and economic independence. The initiative fosters community engagement through the establishment of a Women's Community Forum, promoting active participation in decision-making. Additionally, it raises awareness about health and safety issues, while creating support networks through mentors
