A female cohort learning about nonviolence.
Peace Bridges is collaborating with many other small groups as part of the "Citizens Engaged in Environmental Justice for All" (CEEJA) project. This project aims to empower Cambodians, especially women and youth, to innovate peaceful practices and particapte in natural resource governance.
As part of CEEJA, Peace Bridges has been facilitating workshops on peace and nonviolence for women from the Prey Lang forest area. Most recently, a group of ten from Kratie and Stung Treng provinces completed the course. These women engaged in learning and discussions on the foundations of peacebuilding and nonviolence, healthy relationships, gender-based violence, and child protection.
Recent outbreaks in COVID-19 and subsequent shutdowns required everyone to adapt and learn new skills. The participants had to step out of their comfort zones and use technology to continue their studies. Peace Bridges staff taught these women through smartphone technology while the women met in their community and followed safety protocols (meeting outdoors and wearing masks).
We are proud of how these women adapted to the difficult circumstances, even learning new ways to use technology.
Thank you for your support of women peacebuilders.
