By Bonnie Robins | Access Nature Director
In the first half of 2019 thé Access Nature Program has already exceeded its 2018 achievements. With the help of the Global Giving community we have been able to serve nearly 100 participants from disabled and underserved populations. Adding 3 new organizations we have worked with people with developmental disabilities, autism, mental illness, blindness and underserved Hispanic immigrants.
We also created a followup questionnaire which is sent to each organizations program coordinator. The response from our survey overwhelming indicates that participants are more relaxed, less anxious, and more engaged after the AN Nature Program. Their mood, cognitive function, and social interaction are all improved and they experience a greater sense of well being. These results coincide with scientific studies proving the benefits of exposure to nature.
in the second half of 2019 we will double our outreach. Please help us, by giving generously, to continue to expand our programs servicing twice as many disabled and underserved peoples to experience the benefits that nature has to offer.
