At Impacto, we are always committed to providing our artisan groups with tools that allow the optimization of their work. For us, it is vital that the groups we collaborate with are constantly evolving and, above all, have new learning through the exchange of knowledge.
For them, Impacto has developed a series of workshops in the communities of Aldama, Santiago El Pinar, San Juan Cancuc, Mitontic, and Larraínzar. With the purpose of the artisans of these communities they can, independently, optimize the times in which they carry out their craft textile work.
With the groups that work with the waist loom technique, we have implemented a total of 46 exercises to count the hours dedicated to textile work. Seven tables were generated that will allow artisans to calculate the exact time of realization of any of their products and, therefore, to establish fair costs concerning the hours invested of work. In the communities that work with the embroidery technique, 110 exercises were carried out in the communities of Aguacatenango, Chamula, Chenalhó, and Tenejapa
The creation of the hour counting workshop is essential to deepen the knowledge of the ancestral techniques of the communities of Los Altos de Chiapas. It will also support artisans to establish a fair and ethical price for hours invested in work. In this way, the artisans will have full knowledge of the value of their work within the craft market. Thanks to your donations, it is possible to continue exchanging knowledge with the communities and, above all, to empower artisan women.
