Strengthening the skills and welcoming new ones

Empowering Women of Nepal has started four-week intensive Basic Female trekking guide training (FTG) on July 24 during trekking off-season to empower underprivileged young girls and women through adventure tourism from different parts of Nepal.  This time the training has total 30 participants from 10 different districts in which 12 participants are only from Mid-Western Region of Nepal which is considered as one of the most geographically remote regions in Nepal.

Along with the knowledge and skills on becoming a trekking a Trekking guide, FTG also provides life skills training for the participants. During this training, the most important lessons and classes are instructed and facilitated by our own senior trekking guides. These important classes comprise the topic like First Aid-Training, Backpacking, Basic etiquettes of a trekking guides, Flora and Fauna and Experience sharing. Thus, helping our senior guides to amplify their own skills and transfer the knowledge and experiences to young upcoming female trekking guides.

Inn addition to this, recently, EWN organized a workshop on ‘Communication’ with an objective to strengthen the communication skills of our guides which plays a vital role in delivering the success in any field. This workshop was more focused on story telling and as well to present oneself without fear. We had a total of 24 participants in this workshop and is grateful to our instructor  who is a communication consultant and Journalist. 

To conclude, EWN is looking forward to empower young girls and women through adventure tourism and make them self-reliant by providing with employment opportunities as well as entrepreneurship skills through various upcoming trainings.
