Dear Supporters and Friends,
We are thrilled to share with you the success of our recent student-led CleanUp event, made possible through the remarkable efforts of a dedicated Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 351 in San Marino.
The event drew an impressive attendance of 64 Boy Scouts and their families, united in the commitment to preserving the beauty of our coastal environment. Together, they embarked on a journey to rid the beach of various forms of debris, ranging from plastic bottle caps and beer bottles to discarded cans and even an abandoned bed.
Volunteers focused their energy on the task at hand, and at the end of the event, the collective efforts yielded an astonishing 310 pounds of trash removed from the beach.
Nicholas, the driving force behind this initiative, shared his heartfelt testimonial:
My name is Nicholas, and I am currently working on my Eagle Scout project, which includes planning this beach clean-up. As a member of Troop 351 from San Marino, this was the first event I have organized. Initially, I thought the amount of trash would be minimal, but as we ventured further along the beach, I was corrected. In the end, we accumulated an impressive 310 pounds of trash, which was a surprising and eye-opening amount.
I extend my sincere gratitude to all of you for your unwavering support throughout this process. I look forward to collaborating with you again on future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Nicholas

In addition, we are proud to share that OBP Blue Schools has reached over 200 students from Kindergarten to 5th grade in Florida, California and Missouri. Ocean Blue’s Marine Debris Science Kits are paired with educational lesson plans to give teachers the tools they need to succeed in educating our youngest generation of watershed-ocean stewards.
Since all three new participating schools are designated as Title 1, we welcome every teacher from the three new OBP Blue Schools to participate in the year-long STEAM Curriculum. This is made possible through scholarships provided directly from donors like you.
Welcome to our new OBP Blue Schools!
