The children of Darfur, Sudan, desperately need our help. Mothers are struggling to feed their families. Many are surviving on one scant meal a day. Healthcare across the country has collapsed. Over a million children are unable to go to school in Sudan.
We are so worried about the reports of violence in Darfur and now we have been hearing that fire is being used as a weapon of war. Entire villages have been burnt to the ground.
Families who previously had very little do not even have a roof over their heads now. The situation is just unimaginable. Precious possessions have gone in an instant. People have lost everything and there is no one to help. There is no aid reaching families trapped in remote villages. Children are starving – it is so frightening. We cannot bear to think of all the helpless mothers, desperate for food, scared for the future.
Can we help? Yes absolutely. We are preparing orders for emergency seed, mosquito nets, veterinary drugs, and spare parts for our handpumps - all part of our integrated sustainable package of projects which we provide to every one of our villages as we adopt them. We will be acting quickly to provide aid as soon as it is safe to do so. Currently the UN is negotiating safe humanitarian access and we will be able to join with them.
There is no other organisation even attempting to provide vital life-saving help to remote communities. We also know that 12 of our villages have been destroyed just a few days ago and our first priority will be to help those families who have lost everything to rebuild their lives.
This is a terrible situation. The world is turning a blind eye on children who are starving and scared for their lives.
Thanks to your support, we know we can help children and families survive and give them hope for the future.
Please do donate if you can and encourage your friends and family to help us provide the essentials so people can go home and rebuild their lives. We are needed now more than ever.
We cannot thank you enough for your support. It means more than we can say.
This is just about the hardest time we have ever had to face.
