We are so excited to be planting a Moringa Tree Community Forest this year in Tratora Birkat Jaro, one of the new villages we have adopted this year.
And what is more exciting, this project will be run by Women, organised by the Women's Association!
It is important that the village community - the women, the village leaders, youths, students at school and child shepherds - work together to diligently care for the trees in this Moringa community forest in order that it flourishes and is sustainable.
But it is the women that will be leading this project. It is they who will be learning new skills - how best to plant, harvest, feed and care for these trees - and they will be able to pass them on to future generations.
These Moringa trees truly are magical.
Moringa seeds can purify water. It is so hard to get water in Darfur that no one talks about clean water - just the urgent necessity to find water.
Just imagine that! Clean water at last in Darfur!
Not only that but the leaves of the Moringa tree have 7 times more vitamin C than oranges and 15 times more potassium than bananas - incredible!
The Moringa's will offer relief from the unbearable heat for children, animals and their families and these forests will give space for the community to relax in the shade.
Just imagine the lives these trees will change - not ony now but in the future?
Thank you so much for donating trees and helping us get this far!
As always, there are many more villages, many more families, women, children and animals that need our help.
Could you help us give them hope for the future and enable us to plant more trees like this?
