Did you know that the young women trained as Certified Opthalmic Paramedics (COPs) that the Jiti Foundation supports not only provide direct eye healthcare at clinics, they also provide health counseling and motivation for preventative care, and also perform follow up care directly in the home communities of their patients?
The COP program not only changes the lives of the young women who enroll in the program, the impact of their education is felt throughout their entire families. One of the current students in the two-year COP training program is named Mahima. She is from Saharanpur, in Uttar Pradesh, India. Mahima is confident and driven, and has goals to become a doctor and to help others. Sadly, her father, who supported the family in his work as a driver, tragically passed away recently. Mahima is the eldest of four siblings, and now hopes to support her mother and her siblings with her work as a COP in their local communitiy. We are so proud of Mahima, and the incredible work she is doing to improve the health and vision of her community.
To support young students like Mahima, join us this #GivingTuesday and make a meaningful impact in the lives of many! Thank you for being a member of our supportive community, we are grateful for our amazing supporters.
