RATA Training for visually impaired on ICT

By Rene William Ngabo | Project Leader

Dear RATA supporter,

Rwanda Assistive Technology Access (RATA) has trained 17 young visually impaired on ICT under the project called: "Empower visually impaired for employment in Rwanda" because of your contribution.

Lessons such as keyboard typing using braillino braille display, text formatting, Microsoft word and excel, using internet and sending e-mails, and on how to use a smartphone were covered.

RATA has been supporting the participants to look for jobs after the training and so far, 4 of them got a job.

Before Covid-19 occured others were volunteering at RATA, advocating in different areas of the country so that persons with disabilities in Rwanda access ICTs (Assistive technologies).

Because of that pandemic, our organization since March 2020 has done few activities as most of our activities were done while bringing together many people.

For the moment, RATA  through its website is  providing basic information and resources needed by persons with disabilities and their caretakers regarding Assistive technology.

RATA is a local non-governmental organization in Rwanda registered under the law N0 522/RGB/NGO/LP/10/2019 founded on 4th January 2018 with mission of ensuring accessible ICTs (Assistive technologies) for people with disabilities in Rwanda.
