In 2023, we included a comprehensive training journey structured in four stages that promote and boost young women through the different phases of knowledge on the adoption of technology: from encouraging them to getting them closer to the technology field to walking with them through their first steps at work to completing specific training programs, mentoring, and certifications. All our proposals are free and were created with professionals from the industry and CET Community members, who joined as facilitators, mentors, and teachers to reach their Latin American peers.
This year, we have updated and added new free learning opportunities to this journey. Therefore, we hope that even more than 1600 latin american young women can embark on and expand their paths in technology by participating in our 14 proposals for free technology training and professional skills.
BienvenidaCET
We kicked off the year with BienvenidaCET, a virtual event attended by over 120 girls from across Latin America. During the event, we introduced the various initiatives and training proposals that will be developed throughout 2024 at Chicas en Tecnología. We encouraged previous graduates to continue their educational and professional journeys in technology, and invited more young women to explore and join the diverse training opportunities offered by CET.
New edition of Protagonistas del Futuro
In May, a new edition of Protagonistas del Futuro began, an online and free program developed with the support of The Walt Disney Company. In this program, young Latin American women aged 14 to 18 learn to program an application with social impact, using technology to address real community issues.
Onsite workshops in schools for teenage girls
We have been conducting PUMM, Programando un Mundo Mejor (spanish for "programming a better world") in various high schools in order to reach out to more teenage girls and motivate them to take their first steps in technology creation.
New edition of Programación Front-End
We have launched a new edition of our free Front-End programming course, developed with the support of Motorola and Empower. Over 12 weeks, 100 young women aged 15 to 23 from Buenos Aires will learn to develop a website using the primary languages used in the technology sector (including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) while collaboratively creating a technology project with social impact.
We launched a project co-financed by the European Union to reduce the gender digital gap
We launched the European Union co-financed project Fortaleciendo la trayectoria en STEM de mujeres jóvenes de Argentina ("Strengthening the STEM journey of Young Women in Argentina"), which will be planned and implemented by Chicas en Tecnología in collaboration with two other argentine NGOs. Together, we share the commitment to educate, motivate, and support young women in Argentina, especially those in vulnerable socioeconomic contexts, to broaden their development opportunities in the STEM sector and strengthen their educational and professional pathways.
The launch event hosted in June provided an opportunity to engage with representatives from the private sector, government, and civil society organizations to discuss this important initiative we inaugurated this year, and will continue working on until 2026.
