Paolo is 17 years old and entered Peru Champs 6 years ago, one of the first promotions with which we promote our dream that more low-income boys and girls with great talents receive a quality education. Paolo (academic talent Champ) has always been an outstanding student and has played an active role as an agent of change, seeing every activity proposed by his school Innova Schools and our Leadership Program as an opportunity.
One of the challenges he had in his early years as a Champ was when he failed to be selected to belong to the Innova Schools School of Leaders. "It left me with a spark to try again and prove that I could impact more people's lives like they did with me," he told us. Since then, he continued to work toward that first goal and succeeded. He has also participated as a Delegate of the CENIT Model, ELE and ILM, and leadership workshops, where he has learned a lot from his mentors, especially Alejandro, who one day told him without knowing that he would help him discover his purpose: "there is a nation to fight for, there is a people to defend".
Paolo began to meet other leaders like him thanks to the High Potential Program (HP) of Peru Champs, which allowed him to enrich himself with formative experiences. "One of the ones I highlight the most is the MUN, because of the subject matter, the debates and above all the social circles. You meet people with great initiatives and who achieve great goals, which inspire you to be a better person and professional." As Champ mentions, HP helped consolidate and direct the goal he wanted: to study abroad and be part of international programs such as the Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program.
Currently, not only has he won a scholarship to do his bachelor's degree at UWC Isak Japan, but he also wants other people to have the same opportunities he had. One of his initiatives is called Malta-Kuna Opportunities, which aims to give adolescents and young people in Peru access to better study opportunities. "I believe I have the means and the tools to help reduce the problems and injustices in Peru. Always, it is important to remember where you come from, because it does not mean that I have worked alone, but that several people have worked alongside you."
