Maram's Journey: From Isolation to Belonging

By Iman Zaoin | Communication & Development Assistant

Dear Friends,

We are immensely grateful for your steadfast support in our campaign. Your contributions are truly transforming the lives of internally displaced girls in Syria. These girls face unimaginable challenges as they navigate the harsh realities of war, poverty, and displacement. Your generosity enables us to brighten their days through education, playful activities, and the gift of new friendships.

Loneliness is a prevalent emotion among these girls. Displaced and living in precarious conditions in refugee camps, Syrian refugees often grapple with negative feelings. By fostering strong friendships and providing opportunities for them to learn and grow together, we can positively impact these girls' outlook on life, helping them find moments of joy and happiness amidst adversity.

Read on to learn about Soar Girl Maram’s inspiring journey with Project Soar:

“My name is Maram, a returnee from the Al Hol camp. I am an innocent girl that found herself in a life full of sadness and loneliness. Negative thoughts swirled in my mind, and society’s judgment shattered my spirit. But then, a glimmer of hope appeared: Project Soar at Josor Asalam. [...] Gradually, I saw the light. The girls in my group transformed from strangers to close friends. It was a feeling that is guiding me toward belonging. My voice, once a shield, now connected me to the world. It is my bridge, a way to express who I truly am. As the program concluded, I realized I wasn’t alone anymore. I had transformed into a part of a robust network, embodying collective resilience and strength.”

Maram's story fills our hearts with immense joy. Witnessing the positive impact of our work on the lives of these incredible girls is truly inspiring. We hope you share in our feelings. Stay tuned for more updates from Project Soar, and never doubt that your support is making a meaningful difference!

With gratitude,

Project Soar Team
