The Rally Going on
The Rally Going on

Women Inspiration development Center is a safe place for Nigerian women and girls in challenging life circumstances to envision and create new possibilities for their lives, families and communities. Our vision is advancing women’s right and creating a safe place for victims of gender based violence and disenfranchised women and girls to develop their agency through empowerment in order to improve their health, economic, and social status so they can have fulfilling lives free of violence.

On March 8th, 2019 this last International Women’s Day, The center joined women worldwide to #BalanceforBetter. We created awareness through a rally round our community on the issue of serious insecurity of women presently in Nigeria. The recent development of ritualists stealing, snatching of ladies panties at gun point for rituals and several women and girls have been killed as a result of this. We distributed pamphlets and fliers on making women and girls safe to achieve balance for better. At the end of the campaign, we went on social media to sensitize the government and law makers to make Nigeria safe for women and girls to achieve gender balance for better world. Also we went on our local  Radio that is heard in at least six states to sensitize women and girls on safety tips to make themselves safe in their community and the need to always support one another whenever there is a cry for help.

Several women and men joined this campaign that went on for four hours. At the end we were able to attract the attention of Law makers in the state and Federal House of Representatives who were ready to carry our voices to the lawmakers to do something about this new trend of Violence against Women in Nigeria.
