Meet Nura.
Nura is one of 9 children being raised by her elderly grandmother. Five of these children are HIV positive, none of the parents are around, creating a very heavy burden for the grandmother.
Nura was enrolled in a boarding school for 9th grade, due to her extreme vulnerabilities. She tried hard to perform well in school, but without her grandmother's guidance and support, her health began to decline along with her academic grades. Makindu Children's Program stepped in and transferred Nura to a school closer to her grandmother. Nura is now adhering well to her medications, performing well in school, enjoying her classes, making new friends, and living close enough to her grandmother to help with household chores and benefit from her guidance.
We are confident that Nura will continue to do well with her health and her academics. With the support of Makindu Children's Program, she will grow into a capable, confident, educated young woman. Thanks to you and the education she receives, she will be empowered to find a job and support herself and family.
Thank you for giving Nura a chance!
