CEPALC is continuing its work with children

By Hannah Reasoner | project collaborator

CEPALC is continuing its work with children and youth in Boyacá and Bogotá. Themes of peace and values for living in community have been able to awaken creativity in these children. In the small town of Mongua located in the department of Boyacá, we are making a puppet show based on a story by Carlos Silva, "No Más Galletas Para Julieta" (No More Cookies for Julieta). From this story we would like to talk about the importance of the rights to health, education, and healthy food. We made puppets from recycled materials and will adapt the story to make a fable.
In Bogotá, we had a workshop with girls from various ages titled: "Sembrando Mi Felicidad" (Planting My Happiness). In this workshop we talked about the importance of having a guilt-free life, we had important sessions about healing wounds. We also had a performance by the music group Género Son, a group made up of some of the women who were also participating in the workshop and represent CEPALC while singing about peace and human rights. There were more than 60 women ages 11 to 20 that were with us throughout the day. We hope to continue this work and repeat this workshop with other groups.
