CAIA’s advisory services are much more than about helping people gain access to their statutory and legal rights about immigration, entitlements, housing and employment.

We accompany the disadvantaged, voiceless and marginalised in their life journey to greater independence, empowerment and fulfilment for improvements the quality of their lives.

During the 3-month between October -December 2021, CAIA the following workshop which benefited 30+ advice clients of working age, mainly women to teach their new skills and improve their resilience in managing their affairs.

Basics of Self-Employment’ - Types of Self-employments • What type of Business? • How to Market yourself and your Business • Legal and Financial Issues • Where to get further help

CANVA – Using Digital graphic design tool for everyday personal and professional use.

Out of pocket travel expenses were paid to those attending as well as lunch and creche provided to remove any barrier learner faced in participating.

Continuing with the empowering process CAIA was pleased to partner with Ealing & Hounslow CVS, that enabled us to receive 6 refurbished laptops previous owned by Hounslow Council and distribute these free to low income Armenian residents who don’t have such devises to remove barriers to digital exclusion. CAIA’s Digital Champion was instrumental in the arrangement, providing 1-2-1 IT technical and digital learning support to the beneficiaries. https://caia.org.uk/services/digital-inclusion/

Below is some feedback from those who benefited from the three workshops.

• I am more aware how to become Self-Employed and will seek more information, do further marketing and research

• I learned about tax, finance and legal issues when starting own business.

• Gained confidence and are motivated in becoming Self-Employed. I am thinking of starting my own hairdressing business

• More aware of how to manage my time better, for example I will organise my smartphone, start using Google calendar, delete or unsubscribe irrelevant emails

• I gained knowledge about time management strategies such as setting up short goals to acheive objectives.

• I am now confident in managing my time better.

• I learned about digital graphic design which I knew nothing about. I am now confident in creating children's birthday invitation cards or business cards when I start my own business.

• I gained knowledge about the potential mulitple uses of CANVA.
