Earlier this year, the Stealth Sisters English and Women's Empowerment program was halted due to Taliban interference. The safety of the girls enrolled is of paramount importance to SAHAR. While we wanted to resume the program in person, we have been unable to alleviate those concerns and decided to begin an online English pilot program. The pilot will last 3 months and allow girls from previous SAHAR programs and others who expressed interest from different regions to join online classes and work within a learning management app.
95 students have begun a 3-month trial of an online learning platform that will enable them to learn English, Math, and Life Skills with the support of the SAHAR team and a dedicated group of volunteer teachers. Most of the students in this pilot program recently graduated from the 2nd round of the Underground TechSheroes program. Others, reached out to SAHAR from across Afghanistan, looking for opportunities to learn despite the continued subjugation of young women by the Taliban. Over 80 of these students joined a program launch call with the SAHAR team and volunteer teachers earlier this week.
Thanks to your continued support, SAHAR is seeking out new and innovative ways to reach even more young women in Afghanistan. The Secret Scholars Online pilot program is one of these efforts.
