Africa Matters Ambassadors Program

The Africa Matters Ambassadors Program (AMAP) has been at the forefront of driving change for the past decade, with our educational framework empowering youth through capacity building rooted in knowledge transfer and community engagement. As we celebrate Africa Matters' 10-year anniversary, our program continues to provide participants with resources and learning opportunities that enhance their expertise in critical development areas and position knowledge as a key tool for addressing socio-economic inequalities within communities.

This first AMAP GlobalGiving report for 2025 not only highlights key updates and developments but also looks ahead to our continued efforts to upskill and empower African youth across the continent in the years to come.

Program Update: Building Young Social Entrepreneurs Across Africa

In the past quarter, our ambassadors have engaged in six intensive modules and three interactive workshops, aimed at enhancing their leadership, project management, and advocacy skills. These sessions went beyond theory, offering practical tools to support the implementation and sustainability of their Community Engagement Projects (CEPs). With these real-world resources, our ambassadors are ready to drive social impact in their communities.

AMAP Ambassadors Spotlights: Stories of Transformation

Our 2024-25 cohort present a variety of innovative and inspirational project ideas, including (but not limited to):

  • Setting up small-scale enterprise and entrepreneurship training in Zambia,
  • Utilising the strength of education and skills development to address peace and conflict resolution in Cameroon
  • Exploring animation and storytelling in awareness-raising and sensitization around gender-based violence within rural communities in Tanzania.

Below are some of their inspiring stories:

  • Sierra Leone: One of our ambassadors is actively addressing the lack of mentorship opportunities for boys in his community. Many young boys aged 15 to 22 struggle to find meaningful guidance and skills development, limiting their potential and exposing them to negative influences. Through his INSPIRE Initiative, he is providing leadership training, mentorship, and entrepreneurial skills to empower these boys. This project is not only helping them develop personally but also encouraging them to take on leadership roles, fostering long-term positive change in their community. Read more about his work here.
  • Rwanda: Another one of our ambassadors in Rwanda is dedicated to improving the sexual and reproductive health of women and girls. Driven by the urgent need for greater awareness, the high rate of unsafe abortions, and the violence against women in her community, She took action to make a difference. Her work is creating meaningful and lasting impact, empowering women and girls to take control of their health and well-being. Watch her inspiring story here!

A Call to Action: Your Support Drives Change
The AMAP Team extends our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported the advancement of African youth development and innovation. We urge everyone to continue advocating for accessible, equitable education and greater youth representation across all sectors. African youth are the catalysts for transformation, not only in the continent’s present but also in its future development. Our Ambassadors consistently demonstrate remarkable resilience and determination throughout the program cycle.

In a time marked by global uncertainty and shrinking international development funding, particularly from organizations your support is more than just a donation—it is a powerful force for change. Your generosity enables us to empower the next generation of African leaders, sparking a movement of transformation across the continent. With your support, we can:

  • Provide African youth with the essential training and mentorship to drive impactful change within their communities.
  • Fund community-driven initiatives across Africa, turning innovative ideas into real-world solutions.
  • Build a robust network of passionate individuals dedicated to breaking barriers and shaping Africa’s future.

The Africa Matters Ambassadors Program highlights the immense value of investing in African youth—the world’s largest and most promising population. By uplifting both young women and men, we are cultivating the leaders of tomorrow, poised to create sustainable social change and a brighter future for all.

We would also love to invite you to join us at the Africa Matters Summit in August, where we will celebrate the incredible progress made over the past decade and continue our collective mission to empower the next generation of African leaders.Stay updated on the summit here.
