The opening ceremony of the Sewing Center was held on Chak no 371 Hanif colony and Jaffa Colony District Toba Tek Singh were organized in the month of July, 2018 . Most of the girls and women enrolled in these sewing centers are extremely poor and they either work as house maids or belong to the families of domestic servants.
Total 51 girls and women are enrolled in both Sewing Centers. Many more girls and women showed interest in enrolling, but due to financial constraints, the Society for Human Development was able to provide only four sewing machines. Thanks to a donation of USD 1174 through GlobalGiving, the centers have been established and are running successfully. Donations permitting, the Society for Human Development will open more sewing centers and purchase more sewing macines to train more girls and women.
One of the beneficiaries expresses their feelings
“My name is Lubna and I live in Ch# 371 Hanif Colony. My husband works as a brick kiln worker and earns Rs. 500 a day (about USD 4 a day). I came to know that SHD is running a sewing centre in our villages where can girls learn cutting and sewing. I got admission in a sewing centre and now I am regularly attending the sewing classes. I have got a skill and I can support my husband by sewing clothes of other people".
We request all our donors to support SHD for this project.
