The most recent harvest from the Phase 11 Seed Distribution in March 2021 was from the Balan community in December 2021. Seeds were distributed to small farmers, women’s groups and schools in various communities for crops such as onions, tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, beets, peas, and okra; however, the harvest yielded little primarily due to the prolonged drought in the area.
Furthermore, due to a lack of funding for the program, the farmers and other participants do not have agricultural technical support from the AG technicians.
These resilient communities whose members take pride in what they have been able to accomplish are facing almost unsurmountable odds as the challenges to their lives increase daily.
