Give a Gift this Easter to Change Lives in Darfur

With Easter fast approaching, in the midst of Ramadan and with Passover ahead, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, generosity, and the spirit of giving.

This year, we are appealing to you to help us spread hope and joy to families in Darfur, Sudan by donating Chickens, Goats or Donkeys.

Sudan is facing a humanitarian and human rights catastrophe. With nearly 11 million people already displaced - 4 million of those are children, making it the largest child displacement crisis in the world - the country is poised on the brink of a major famine. A collapsing medical system renders the war’s true death toll unknown. As many as 5 million people are facing starvation. Many will only survive if they are given uninterrupted life-saving treatment. But none is available.

Could you please donate the price of 3 Hens and a Rooster ($19 / £15) to give protein-rich eggs to the frail and elderly?

Or a Nanny Goat ($63 / £50) to provide nourishing milk to starving children?

Or a Donkey ($82 / £65) to carry heavy loads and clean, safe, thirst-quenching water?

Your Donations will make DOUBLE the difference

It has been a terrible year since the violence erupted in April in Sudan. Virtually no aid reaches remote villages in Darfur. Families who live in remote villages, hundreds of miles away from the regional capital El Fasher in North Darfur, have been left with nothing.

One of the problems was that banks across the country had closed and, with inflation sky high, it has been impossible to find means of helping. However, our volunteers are exceptional people, despite all their anxieties for their own families, they are keen to help Kids for Kids deliver assistance to our villages.

Kids for Kids is the only organisation helping these communities who live out of sight of the world.

And we have now found, through our local connections, a means of delivering emergency aid to villages in North Darfur right now. And that is all thanks to you and your invaluable support.

Your donations have meant that we have sorghum, mosquito nets, veterinary drugs, and most important of all, spare parts and repair kits for hand pumps, all ready to go. All of this despite ongoing violence. Keeping hand pumps working means life-saving clean water! Keeping goats healthy feeds children nutrious goats milk! Thank you.

Could you please donate a little more to help us provide more emergency aid to those who need it most? Anything you donate will be DOUBLED this December, thanks to Dame Joanna Lumley DBE FRGS and three wonderful friends who have pledged to match your donations up to a total of $35,000.

A Thread of Hope

Families are unable to leave their homes for food

At this terrible time of violence across Darfur there is a thread of hope.

Hassan, our Acting Programme Manager, has managed to join our Trustee, Khalid, in Port Sudan. They are working together, with the volunteers in Darfur, to help us get emergency supplies to families in desperate need out of sight in the remote villages of North Darfur.

Our priority is initially to deliver emergency supplies to the 110 villages that Kids for Kids has already adopted. We are thankful that we can at last plan, despite the atrocities that are being perpetrated in Darfur.

Internet is intermittent but they have established contact and are now working on a safe plan to enable desperately needed basics to reach families. The violence broke out in April and as yet there is no end in sight.

”I am enormously grateful to our friends in Darfur that, despite their worries for their own families, they are doing all they can to enable Kids for Kids to help families struggling out of sight of the world” said Patricia, Founder of the charity.

Children are trapped in villages, surrounded by inexcusable violence. Families are fleeing to our Kids for Kids' Villages where they know they will have better hope of survival.

Our support is needed now more than ever. Our Emergency Appeal is the only lifeline these families have.
