Health promoters are community educators working country-wide for the Ministry of Health of El Salvador (MINSAL). Basic Health International (BHI) provides extensive training to health promoters working to prevent cervical cancer. Health promoters actively help us reach women in low-resource communities with limited access to screening and treatment.
Dinora, 36yr, is a health promoter for the San Pedro Purulapan sector in the department of Cuscatlan, El Salvador. As a schoolgirl, Dinora loved community service and supported a project for the Hospital of Suchitoto. This experience contributed to her career choice as a health promoter. To achieve this, Dinora studied for her bacheor’s degree and then received 6 months of healthcare promotor training given by the Ministry of Health of El Salvador (MINSAL). Health promoters must keep their knowledge current by attending workshops and further training.
Dinora loves interacting with people and creating behavioral changes for a healthier community.
