School integration is very important, but in Peru, sometimes this integration just put the children in a vulnerable situation and makes them potential victims of bullying in the school. The teasing, insults and even beatings that the included children have received is a daily story and those painful events only increase their self-esteem problems, which in most cases they already had to deal with their own disability and personal acceptance. This is the case with 5-year-old Abihail who, despite having a disability that is not very noticeable, used to be self-conscious and feel ashamed that others treated her badly for having little mobility in her left arm, all her fears were increased by the mistreatment of other children from the same age at school.
But fortunately, Abi has managed to confront bullying through activities focused on accepting herself and developing social skills while reinforcing her knowledge and dexterities. The process that she has lived began by telling and accepting that she is bullied at school, and then learning ways to love and value herself, which increased her self-esteem and strengthened her ability to adequately deal with conflicts. Thanks to this, she was able to stop hiding her left arm under the desk and use it without so many fears, which has allowed her to have greater mobility of that limb and has given her confidence and self-assurance.
Through cases like Abihail's, we can realize that bullying is evident in educational environments, and children with disabilities are the most vulnerable to experience it, but by reinforcing their soft skills, it is possible to instill in them coping and management skills of this type of situation, since these facilitate their coexistence with others, creating bonds and improving the levels of socialization and communication.
