Help Feed and Support 600 Students in Guatemala

One of the biggest events at the School of Hope is the graduation ceremony. In October we celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2024; 38 students in the 9th grade and 40 students in the 6th grade graduated from the school.

These students were severely affected by the pandemic as classes in the region were suspended for a long time, so it was a very emotional moment for their family members, sponsors and school staff to see them complete this important chapter in their school life.

The scholarship program graduated an engineer (the first of what we hope will be many), a criminologist, and a graphic designer. A group of high school students and collage graduates were also celebrated with a luncheon at the school. Everyone was very proud to see them achieve their goals and graduate, as this opportunity will open many doors for them to get jobs.

After graduations, we give way to the vacation school. This past November, 248 of our students participated in a month-long vacation school program. Students were given the opportunity to choose and participate in a workshop that provided both educational enrichment and skill development.

The program offered a diverse range of activities, including music, arts, and crafts, such as basket weaving, music, and piñata making, which fostered a space for creative expression and hands-on learning. Sports workshops in soccer and basketball promoted physical activity and teamwork, and academic workshops in subjects like English, math, and science helped strengthen the students’ foundational knowledge. Additionally, workshops for social-emotional learning and self-care help to support students’ overall well-being.

Thanks to everyone who supported our school, this initiative provided meaningful learning experiences that equip our students for future success even outside the traditional school year.

The start of the 2025 school year was no exception. We welcomed 395 students, including 42 new Pre-K students who are happy and excited to meet their peers and teachers and begin their adventure in their new school.

This year, we added new learning programs to keep pace with the evolving educational landscape and ensure that our students are equipped with relevant, up-to-date skills.
