Thank you for donating to the Pureland Project’s Education for Nomadic Children in Tibet project on GlobalGiving. This is an ongoing project and we want to let you know how things are progressing on the plateau!
The schools supported by this project had their Tibetan New Year holidays in mid-February and returned to classes at the start of March. The teachers who live at the schools returned refreshed and ready to endure the remainder of the harsh winter.
Each classroom in the largest school was supplied with wood burning stoves, with the help of another organization, and yak dung was purchased from the local community for fuel. The second school also returned to classes and is on track to keep their students at the top ranking by grades in the district. The third school, a preschool, resumed classes for 22 students. Co-funding allowed for another preschool to open with Montessori curriculum and materials. Preschools are becoming a requirement in China and these local preschools enable children to remain close to their families while getting an education!
Thank you for your support—every donation makes a huge difference. We will send another report later in the year with more updates!
In gratitude,
The Pureland Project team
